Former Longtime Elder : Contributions
by James Jackson infor a year now, i have been handling the accounts.
we have 6 elders and 7 ms, and none of them ( i am not serving), want to do the accounts, so they asked me to do it.
here is what i have noticed.. 4 elderly sisters cover the whole congregation in donations monthly!

We always gave the contributions by check for the three different boxes along with the DA and the CA. My hubby also worked on many KH projects and gave supplies and his labor. One day about two years before we left he just decided he was done with giving to them and would only put money in the literature box and I would still do the DA and CA. I finally asked him and he said they don't need our money, he had part of it figured out but not the hole picture. After we found out the truth we were so glad we stopped supporting them and giving them our hard earned money. It feels good to give to a charity that is worthy of our money not one that pays off people because of their protecting pedofiles.

Most Awkward, Embarrassing, Comical things you Experienced as a Witness ?
by flipper inmany of us i'm sure experienced embarrassing or comical moments as a witness.
some things we'd rather just forget , i'm sure, but some things helped us think on our feet, quickly in helping others .
here are a few of mine.

My sister almost died.
by redvip2000 inever since i was a little boy i've been aware of this vague story about my older sister having some issues at birth, but never knew the details.. yesterday i was having a conversation with a much older cousin, who is a non-practicing jw about different watchtower issues.
while discussing the blood issue she totally came out with the story about my sister, which i never knew before.. when my sister was born some 40 years ago, my mother had the delivery at home with the help of a midwife.
i'm not entirely sure why this decision was made instead of going to a hospital.

Wow. I am so glad your sister survived and your uncle had the courage to take her from your Mom and make sure she lived. I would have a hard time making a decision on weather to tell your sister or keep it quiet especially if she is still a JW. I am so glad I was never faced with that when I was in. I have a feeling I would have caved in.

by Separation of Powers inreading julia's comment about how she and her husband have become the epitome of evil (lol) moved me to post.
i have several family members and close friends that have faded or simply walked away.
each of them has chosen a different course.

We are living a good life and we are much happier. We have been celebrating some holidays, traveling more and trying to build new friendships. I have joined a bowling league and my husband has joined some meet-up groups for guitar playing and an open mic. Our business has become even more successful because our attitude is different. We are looking into charities we might want to support. Overall we are living a much more productive life. We are 57 & 59 and even though we lost so much of our life to this religion we are trying to make the best of it and enjoy the time we have left. Life is good and we are trying to live it to the fullest.

I am glad you are doing well and are so happy. You will see your health continue to improve as you continue to follow your dreams and get further past the mind control. It is awful what it does to many people's health.

What Is The "Typical" Elder In The Organization Like Now?
by minimus inwhen i was an elder, most of the elders were pretty independent 40 to 80 year olds.
they had no issue speaking up to the circuit overseer.
i wonder what the average elder is like now.

Lol Outlaw! The last congregation we were in before we faded we were there for 11 years. Only one appointment was made for a new elder and he was 60 and on his 4th marriage!! There were men that moved in that were elders and the congregation also split once. The elders were all over 50 years old and most of them were either retired or on disability. I had little respect for most of them especially the one who was married 4 times because he was so arrogant and a kiss a$$.
